Chandaneswara Temple (Part I)

You have been to Digha, right? Do you remember that white colored Shiva temple named Chandaneswara? It is not exactly Digha, little outskirts. But still, have you been there? Do you remember it? A big temple complex with various Hindu deities, right? I visited the place too. But what I have found there made me amazed, silent. Care for a guided tour to the definition of Belief?
The Entrance
It was the time of Gajan Fair. People of Bengal are well aware of what craziness one gets to experience in those fairs. One could see people with insatiable desire to showcase their desperate devotion to Lord Shiva in those fairs. People hurt themselves brutally, to engage their minds to the Lord of the beings. We arrived at Chandaneswara Temple at that very peak time of the Gajan fair.  We were ready to see the people with devout scars on their bodies. But when we reached we saw something different. We expected a thunder storm and got a gentle rain, which made our minds drenched and fertile to sow the seeds of devotion; a vision, impossible to get through the naked eyes. It was like a gentle vibration on our inner selves.

The Temple Complex
The big entrance, with two lions and the five Dwarpalas of the Lord, in a typical Orissey cult, was decorated with flower garlands. Inside the complex there were thousands of people performing various rituals on their own. Some village priests were sitting with Shiva lingas of different shapes and sizes, and some people just performed their pujas there only. Some were busy with their meditations, some were lighting the essence sticks. Some were feeding a bull, performing their holy baths, shaving their heads, and much more. Everybody was busy with their own; none gave a damn on what others seem, or think. Everyone was so relaxed to perform their deeds, no hurry. We were watching a culture, where religion made people so calm, introvert and determined. We were in midst of such people, who were too devoted to observe the other streams that were flowing through the universe. And thus all the flows were flooding the complex, with their individual energies. What were we there; nothing more than some stupid tourists, who were not at all a part of this grand festival of faith.
